Newry pet food store robbed at gunpoint

An armed robbery has taken place at a pet food store in Newry on Thursday morning.

Two men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a claw hammer, entered the store on the Dublin Road at around 0930 BST.

The men threatened members of staff before making off with a sum of money.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, three masked men have robbed a supermarket in north Belfast.

They threatened staff during the raid on the Shore Road at about 2100 BST on Wednesday.

The men said they had a gun and took money from two tills. They made off in a blue BMW car driven by a fourth man.

Police said the car was stolen during a burglary in west Belfast last week.
