Bomb found in Carrickfergus security alert

A pipe bomb has been found found in the back garden of a house in Carrickfergus, County Antrim.

The discovery led to a security alert in the town on Thursday evening.

A number of people were moved from their homes on Drumhoy Drive during the alert, but were later allowed to return.

The device was found in the back garden of a house and police believe it may have been there for some time.

Meanwhile a suspicious object found outside the gates of a GAA club in a County Armagh village has been declared a hoax.
