11-year-old boy is charged with rioting offences

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with riotous assembly and possession of an offensive weapon.

The suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with offences related to trouble in the Ardoyne area of Belfast, on the Twelfth of July.

He is due to appear at Belfast Youth Court on 29 September.

Police said a 19-year-old man who was arrested on similar charges on Wednesday has been released.
