Londonderry man denies death by dangerous driving charge

A 23-year-old Londonderry man has pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

Jonathan McGonagle, of Moyola Walk, Derry, pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Martin Gallagher on 1 November last year.

Mr Gallagher was knocked down on the Racecourse Road as he walked home from Hallowe'en celebrations in the city.

He also denied two charges of dangerous driving on the same date. The trial at Londonderry Crown Court is due to start on 15 November.

Mr McGonagle was released on continuing bail with the new condition that he is not to drive any car while on bail.
