Belfast men remanded over teenager's attempted murder

Two Belfast men have appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a teenager in the north of the city.

An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with head injuries after he was assaulted in Silverstream Gardens on Saturday night.

Aaron Hogg, 20, from Woodvale Drive and Derek Armstrong, 21, from Silverstream Gardens were also charged with assaulting a second man.

Both the accused were remanded in custody.

The 18-year-old's injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

Mr Armstrong faces a further charge of common assault while Mr Hogg is accused of causing criminal damage to a mobile phone.

A detective constable told Belfast Magistrates' Court he could connect both men to the offences.

There was no application for bail.
