Man charged with attempted murder in Poleglass

A 23-year-old man is expected to appear in court in Lisburn later on Monday charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and burglary.

It follows an incident in which a 43-year-old man was attacked by a man armed with a knife and a hammer on the outskirts of west Belfast.

He was wounded after the armed man forced his way into a house at Laurelbank in Poleglass on Sunday.

A number of other people in the house at the time suffered minor injuries.

The 23-year-old is also charged with attempted burglary, common assault and possession of offensive weapons.

The victim sustained a head wound and a number of cuts and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
