45 jobs under threat at Londonderry maintenance firm

Up to 45 jobs could be lost at a maintenance company in Londonderry.

Employees at McGurk and Moore were told their positions were under threat after the firm lost a contract with North and West Housing Association.

Staff have not been placed on protective notice as the company hopes the jobs can still be saved.

North and West Housing said maintenance contracts must be tendered in accordance with EU regulations.

As a result of this process the contact was awarded to a different company.

Kevin Barrett, the facilities manager with McGurk and Moore, said the company has written to the preferred bidder to try and keep the jobs open.
