NI speaker to quit Derry City council

The speaker of the Northern Ireland assembly William Hay is to quit Derry city council after nearly 30 years as a councillor.

Mr Hay's decision is in line with the DUP's commitment to end double jobbing.

The party aid in June that Mr Hay would leave the council at the end of the summer.

He is due to officially stand down at the start of November.
