Cigarettes stolen by hijackers in west Belfast

Robbers have stolen several thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes in a hijacking in west Belfast.

Shortly before 1130 BST on Tuesday, two men had just stepped into their van on the Falls Road close to Waterford Street when two robbers approached.

The robbers, one of whom was armed with a brick, forced the men to hand over the keys to the van.

The stolen van and a car used by the robbers were damaged when then they struck each other as the men drove off.

Their car, a black Toyota Avensis, which is believed to have been stolen, was discovered abandoned at Bread Street a short time later.

The stolen van has not yet been found.
