Drumahoe man breached Craigavon Bridge police cordon

A man has admitted to Londonderry Magistrates' Court that he breached a police cordon during a security alert on the Craigavon Bridge.

Patrick Farren, 19, from Lettershandoney Avenue, in Drumahoe, committed the offence on 2 September.

Farren, who has a four-month-old daughter, also pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer at the scene.

The judge sentenced him to three months in prison suspended for 18 months.

A defence solicitor told the district judge that Farren suffered from Asperger's syndrome and as a result believed that rules which apply to society did not apply to him.

Farren also admitted committing public order offences last March and July. He was given the same sentence for those offences.
