Car damaged as shots fired in west Belfast

The police are investigating a shooting in Belfast in the early hours of Thursday.

It happened in the Beechmount Link area in the west of the city at about 0030 GMT. A number of shots were fired, but there are no reports of any injuries.

A car was damaged, however, and a man was seen running from the area. He is described as being 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11, slim and was wearing a green coat.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
