Man accused of trying to rape and kill a woman
A man has been charged with trying to rape and kill a woman in Holywood, County Down.
Brian Edward Galbraith, 44, of no fixed abode is charged with attempted murder, attempted rape and threats to kill.
The alleged attack happened at a house on High Street in Holywood on Sunday.
The court in Newtownards heard that Mr Galbraith had refused to leave the cells to appear in the dock on Thursday.
A defence lawyer, originally acting for the accused, said that the accused did not want any legal representation despite the serious charges against him.
Deputy District Judge Sarah Creaner was then told by a prison officer that Mr Galbraith was refusing to leave the cells and enter the dock.
The judge replied, "it's not as though we can drag him out, there is nothing we can do".
A police officer told the court he could connect the accused to the charges. He is due to appear in court again later this month.
