'Hundreds of jobs' for Ballybofey

The company behind a major development planned for Ballybofey have said they believe it will bring hundreds of jobs to the Donegal town.

Offshore investment company Orana have submitted proposals for a mixed-use retail, community, tourism and residential development.

The 330,000sq ft development will cover a 15 acre site between the Donegal Road and Glenfin Road.

The project is now awaiting a planning decision from Donegal County Council.

The director of Orana, Mark Adams, said the financial backing was already in place and he believed the project would get the green light.

"We would not have spent so much money and time bringing the project this far if it was not going to go ahead.

"We have got the investors behind us and we are now at the mercy of the planners."

The same company are also behind plans to construct a a major mixed-use development at Crescent Link in Londonderry.
