Two men, aged 32 and 27, arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in the Ardoyne area on 15 November have been released without charge.

The man, who is in his 20s, was shot by three men wearing balaclavas who forced their way into a house in Brompton Park in the Ardoyne area.

The man was taken to the Royal Victoria hospital for injuries to his legs.

The arrests were made as part of a wider investigation into shootings in north and west Belfast.

Dissident republicans have been blamed for a number of recent attacks in the city in which victims have been shot in the legs.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Little appealed for anyone with information about the attacks to contact police.

"There are people in the community who know who carried out these brutal crimes and I would urge them in the strongest terms to come forward," he said.
