Three people have been rescued from a house fire in Ballyclare.

Police believe it may have been started deliberately. Fire crews were called to Ballyeaston Road at 0120 GMT on Monday after neighbours spotted smoke.

Four people had already managed to escape by the time firefighters arrived. It is thought a party had been held at the house.

The three people who were rescued were given oxygen at the scene and one was taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man has been rescued from a house fire in south Belfast.

Fire crews were called to Hatfield Street off the Ormeau Road at about 0415 GMT on Monday.

A blaze downstairs had filled the house with smoke, and the man was trapped upstairs.

Firefighters were able to get him out of the house and he was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.
