Homes evacuated after gas main ruptures in Newbuildings

Twelve homes had to be evacuated in Newbuildings on Monday because of a ruptured gas main.

The Fire and Rescue Service placed a 50 metre cordon around the pipeline at Primity Terrace.

Engineers from Firmus gas took about an hour to repair the damage, which was reported at about 1230 GMT.

Residents were taken to the community centre on Duncastle Road.
