200 on waiting list for home care packages in West
Almost 200 elderly people are still waiting for full domiciliary care packages in the Western Trust area.
The figures show an improvement of more than 130 compared to October 2010, when 329 people were on the waiting list.
The Trust's assistant director for intermediate care and community services, John McGarvey, said resources are limited.
"The demand for services is linked to our aging population, and we're seeing considerable increases in the numbers of people aged over 85.
"We as a Trust have to consider how we address and meet the needs of older people within the resources available, and we're doing our best to target what budgets and resources we do have towards those with the greatest needs."
