Londonderry dealers jailed for £14,000 drugs haul

Two 23-year-old men who were caught with £14,000 worth of drugs have been jailed at Londonderry Crown Court.

Stephen Patton from Woodside Heights and Iain Canning from Epworth Street, both in Derry, were arrested after the drugs were found in houses in Spencer Road and Ardgrange in November 2009.

Both admitted to possessing the drugs and possessing them with intent to supply.

Patton was sentenced to 12 months in jail, and Canning was given 9 months.

Londonderry Court Court heard the drugs included cocaine, LSD, cannabis, diazepam and ketamines.

Judge Piers Grant said the amount of drugs involved was significant and both men were involved in a relatively sophisticated operation.

He also said the families of the two defendants were abhorred at what they had done.
