Teenage driver is cleared of garda manslaughter

A teenage driver charged with the manslaughter of a garda in Letterkenny has been found not guilty.

Jamie McGrenaghan, 19, from Gortnatra, Kerrykeel, County Donegal, had previously admitted causing Garda's Robbie McCallion's death by dangerous driving and stealing a car.

Garda McCallion, 29, died two weeks after being struck by a car driven by the teenager on 26 March, 2009.

McGrenaghan is due to be sentenced next Friday, 11 February.
