Suspicious object in West Belfast alert declared a hoax

A suspicious object which prompted a security alert in west Belfast has been declared a hoax.

Army Technical Officers examined the device at Lenadoon Avenue close to the Shaws Road junction.

Police received a call from a member of the public shortly after 1620 GMT on Tuesday.

A number of homes were evacuated during the incident, but people are now being allowed to return and road closures are being lifted.
