A leading Gaelic footballer has appeared in court charged with attacking a referee at a club match.

Derry player Eoin Bradley is accused of striking referee Declan O'Connor after a game between his team Glenulllin and Ballinascreen last August.

GAA officials banned Mr Bradley, 27, of Woodland Park in Kilrea, from playing for 24 weeks following the incident.

He is charged with common assault. Wednesday's hearing was adjourned and he is due to appear again in March.

The 27-year-old is the son of Antrim senior football manager, Liam Bradley.
