A new £1.27 million library has been officially opened in Dungiven.

The Culture minister, Nelson McCausland, said it was a "significant investment" by the Northern Ireland Executive.

"It should provide a vibrant, dynamic focal point in the community, but most importantly, it must assist and encourage people in fulfilling their potential," he said.

"I am proud to say that Dungiven library fits this bill."

In the past three years the Northern Ireland Executive has spent approximately £11 million making a range of improvements to the libraries estate.

Dungiven library was reopened to the public on 8 October 2010
