Derry man injured in assault

A 54-year-old man has sustained fractures to his eye socket, cheek and nose during an assault at licensed premises in Londonderry.

The incident happened at about 0100 GMT on Thursday in the Carlisle Road area.

The police are keen to identify a well-built man with short dark hair, who was wearing a black hooded top and dark trousers. He walked off towards Foyle Street.

A man arrested in connection with the assault has been released on bail.
