Woman held over attempted murder

court

A 35-year-old woman has been remanded in custody accused of attempting to murder her partner after she stabbed him in the neck and leg.

Caroline Maria McDonnell, from Doon Road in Belfast, was charged with trying to kill Gary Lomas on 3 March.

Mr Lomas was treated in hospital and had life saving surgery.

Ms McDonnell appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday and had her application for bail refused.

A police officer, who opposed Ms McDonnell's bail request said she believed she could connect Ms McDonnell to the attack.

The officer also told the court police held a domestic abuse file in relation to the couple, but this was the first time Ms McDonnell had been accused of being the aggressor.
