Appeal to parents over Strabane antisocial behaviour

A Sinn Fein spokesperson has asked parents to ensure their children are not involved in anti-social behaviour in Strabane's Ballycolman Estate.

Stephen Dunnion said up to 30 teenagers had gathered there over recent nights, many from other parts of the town.

He said some of those in the group had carried out missile attacks and other vandalism.

"The activities of this group are completely unacceptable and are causing misery to local residents," he said.

Mr Dunnion said there was "growing anger" among residents of the estate about the activities.

"Sinn Féin has been contacted by numerous residents of the estate who are deeply angered that some within this group have used the cover of large numbers to carry out missile attacks on homes and cars in the estate as well and engage in other more general forms of vandalism.

"Damage has also been done to the play park in the estate but it is unclear at this stage if this is linked to the activities of this group.
