Phone hit 'Angry Birds' gets St Patrick's Day version

It has been one of the most popular games available as a smartphone application download.

Now the developers behind the hugely addictive "Angry Birds" have launched a St Patrick's Day version of the game.

Technology blog CNET said Finnish-based Rovio has included 15 new levels, complete with a "St Paddy's Day surprise".

It added that the "Go Green, Get Lucky" levels comes alive with "cloverleafs, pots of gold and a delightful Celtic soundtrack" as well as "pigs in Leprechaun hats".

It is the latest in a number of seasonal-based updates to the game with a Valentine's Day update in February and Christmas and Halloween-themed levels before that.

Rovio has sold millions of downloads of the application which was launched in December 2009.
