Woman is robbed in east Belfast

A woman in her 40's has been robbed in east Belfast.

It happened as she was walking her dog in Pearl Street at about 0900 GMT on Wednesday.

A man came up behind her, pushed a sharp item into her back and demanded money. The woman threw him her purse and ran off.

Police said the robber may have seen the victim withdrawing cash from an ATM on the nearby Woodstock Road shortly before the attack.

The suspect is described as being in his mid 30s, 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 inches tall, of medium build and with spiked fair hair and bright blue eyes. He was wearing a black bomber jacket and black jeans.

Police have asked for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
