Newry police bid to trace 'silent caller'

Mobile phone

Police in Newry have said they believe a person who made 15 silent 999 calls from a pre-paid phone may be in distress.

Police believe the calls are genuine and that the caller is using the keypad to indicate that they are distressed.

A spokesperson said the calls are originating in the Catherine Street or McClelland Park area of the city.

Anyone with an elderly or vulnerable friend or relative in the area is asked to check on them urgently.
