Newry kidnap victim forced to take cash for robber
A kidnapper has forced a man to take money from his own workplace.
The 41-year-old was driving along the Monkshill Road, in Newry, at about 0300 BST on Monday, when he saw a car with hazard lights on and stopped to help.
A man armed with a gun threatened him and ordered him to return to his workplace in Sandys Street.
The kidnapper forced the victim to hand over money and then locked him in the boot of his car, which was abandoned on Greenan Road outside the city.
The man was able to call the police who came to help him.
Police said the man was left badly shaken by the ordeal but was not hurt.
Police have asked for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
