Sandy Row shopkeeper fined over noisy fridges

A south Belfast shopkeeper has been fined £75 for failing to fix noisy refrigerator units at his store.

Phil Brannigan, owner of the Today Store on Sandy Row, was served with a notice by Belfast City Council on 8 June last year.

Residents had complained about the noise coming from the back of his shop.

A follow-up call by council officers in September, found the issue had not been resolved and a prosecution was brought against Mr Brannigan.

The shopkeeper was fined and given a conditional discharge.
