Lurgan hoaxes: 14-year-old charged over bomb alerts

A 14-year-old boy has been charged by police in connection with hoax security alerts in the Lurgan area.

He has been charged with four counts of placing an article causing a bomb hoax.

He has also been reported to the Public Prosecution Service on one count of possessing firearms in suspicious circumstances.

The boy is due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates' Court to face the charges on Thursday morning.

There have been four security alerts in the town in the last seven days, causing major disruption.

A suspicious object outside the gates of a school in Francis Street, Lurgan, was declared a hoax following a controlled explosion on Wednesday.
