Michael McGleenon admits killing his elderly father

A 37-year-old man due to go on trial for the murder of his father has pleaded guilty to his manslaughter.

The body of 75-year-old Michael McGleenon was found at his home in Mansefield, off the Old Portadown Road in Lurgan on 12 November 2009.

Michael Philip McGleenon, of the Shannon Clinic on Belfast's Saintfield Rad, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminshed repsonisbility.

A prosecuting QC said given the evidence the plea was acceptable.

Mr Justice Hart will sentence McGleenon next month after hearing psychiatric evidence.
