Derry man Kieran McCool admits having camera stun gun

A Londonderry man has been given a suspended sentence for having an improvised stun gun.

Kieran George McCool, 42, from Laburnum Terrace, was given an eight-month term, suspended for three years, after he admitted the offence.

The city's magistrates court was told the weapon was in the form of an adapted disposable camera.

McCool told the police the weapon was for self-defence and that he had been attacked several times in the past.

The gun was found after a police search.
