Police investigating the van bomb left on the road near Newry have released a picture of a car they believe may have been used in the attack.

Hundreds of motorists drove past the 500lb bomb, which was found in the vehicle under the Newry bypass on the A1 earlier this month.

Army bomb experts carried out controlled explosions on the device.

The blue Ford Fiesta car, registration GCZ 7682, was last seen on Thursday 7 April.

Police have said they also want to speak to people who were in the area of Patrick Street, Newry at around 2230 BST on Thursday 7 April.

They want to identify a man who used the phone box outside the eastern campus of the Southern Regional College.

Anyone with information about the car is asked to call the incident room on 028 9056 1912.
