Kathy Maguire's bail relaxed to allow for sun holiday

A County Down travel agent charged with fraud has had her bail conditions relaxed to allow her to go on a five-day holiday to Spain.

Kathy Maguire, who ran La Mon Travel in Downpatrick, was ordered to surrender her passport and banned from travel when she was charged in December 2010.

She faces 17 charges of fraud by false representation.

The 37-year-old's bail conditions also prevent her from operating a travel agency.

Police launched an investigation in February 2010 after a number of customers complained about issues over payments for travel bookings.

During a bail application at Downpatrick Magistrates Court on 5 May, a judge granted Kathy Maguire, also known as Kathy Ward permission to go on holiday from 12 May to 17 May.

Ms Maguire was told she must return her passport to the PSNI by 1630 BST on 18 May.

The judge also ordered that the deeds of the apartment in Spain where she will be staying, to be lodged in the court office.
