Irish police detain 'Al-Qaeda sympathiser' in Dublin

Police in the Irish Republic have arrested an alleged Al-Qaeda sympathiser in Dublin.

RTE reported that the 44-year-old was detained on suspicion of making threats to kill.

He is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

The broadcaster reported that the arrest came after a number of threats in relation to the forthcoming visit of US President Barack Obama in the Irish press.

The man is said to be known to police and has been interviewed by detectives a number of times in the past.
