Armed robbery in west Belfast on cash van

An armed robbery has taken place on a cash van in west Belfast on Friday afternoon.

A mn armed with a handgun approached the van on the Andersonstown Road shortly after 1300 BST, threatening one of the guards with the weapon.

He then made off on foot towards a silver-coloured estate car, which police believe was driven towards the Coolnasilla area.

Police say a "substantial sum of money" was taken in the incident.

They are appealing for further information.
