Sinn Fein assign former IRA prisoners to policing board

Two former prominent IRA prisoners will be joining the policing board, Sinn Fein have said.

The former junior minister Gerry Kelly, who was jailed for bombing offences and escaped from the Maze prison in 1981, is among Sinn Fein's appointments to the board.

He will be joined by MLA for West Belfast Pat Sheehan, a former IRA hunger striker.

Former education minister Caitriona Ruane will also sit on the board.
