Annalong device identified as flare by Army experts

A partially-exploded device found in a driveway in Annalong, County Down, was a flare according to police.

The device was discovered between two properties on Carragheen Drive at 1600 BST on Saturday.

A number of houses were evacuated in the alert.

However, the object was examined by Army bomb experts, who then identified it as a marine flare.
