A number of construction workers have been moved from the Royal Victoria Hospital after a fire broke out on Thursday afternoon.

It is understood the blaze is in a new critical care unit which is currently under construction.

Ten fire appliances went to the scene. Tony Stevens from the Belfast Trust said the fire had now been dealt with.

He added that those who were moved away from the building were construction workers and no patients were affected.

The fire is understood to have been started accidentally.
