A house in a County Down town has been slightly damaged in a pipe-bomb attack.

Police said they received reports of a small explosion in the Benmore Court area of Newry at about 0400 BST on Saturday.

A PSNI spokesperson said damage was caused to the letter-box of the house and Army bomb experts were called to examine a device.

The remains of the object were found to be from a pipe-bomb. No-one was injured in the incident.
