Lurgan gang rape: Woman charged with helping offenders

A 29-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the gang rape of a woman and an attack on a man in Lurgan last week.

The attack, at Dingwell Park on 13 July, lasted for about 12 hours.

The woman has been charged with assisting offenders and attempting to pervert the course of justice. She is to appear in court on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old man injured in the attack remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The 26-year-old woman victim is being looked after by detectives from the Rape Crime Unit.

Detectives are keen to speak to a man and a woman who were walking with a child in the Dingwell Park area between 1400 BST and 1500 BST on Wednesday 13 July.

Five Lithuanian men appeared in court on Saturday charged with possessing an offensive weapon and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

The court was told police feared the five were intent on revenge for the Dingwell Park assaults.
