Pellet gun sparked Randalstown security alert

It is understood a suspected firearm recovered by police in Randalstown on Tuesday was a pellet or BB gun.

Police said this was established after further examinations of it.

The discovery of the gun, in a car park at the Ballygrooby roundabout, sparked a security alert, with the car park closed for a time.

Two 30-year-old men who were arrested at the time have since been released unconditionally.
