Petrol bomb thrown at police car in Newtownabbey

A petrol bomb has been thrown at a police patrol car, with two officers inside, in Newtownabbey.

The petrol bomb was thrown from an alleyway close to a fast food restaurant on Church Road. It hit the side of the car.

The car was on its way to an emergency call from a distressed woman at about 01:30 BST on Friday.

The police said the bomb was thrown by a 5ft 10ins man, dressed entirely in black with his face covered.

He ran away down the alley.

Police have appealed for information.
