Woman escapes after fire breaks out at Bushmills home
A woman in her late 20s has suffered from the effects of breathing in smoke after a fire broke out at her Bushmills home.
A neighbour called the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) at about 18:00 BST on Saturday.
The woman managed to escape. The cause of the blaze has not been established.
The fire service said there was no working smoke alarm in the property and said the outcome could have been much worse.
Coleraine station commander Rick Allen said: "The NIFRS would like to remind people of the importance of a having a working smoke alarm."
"Things could have been much worse if this woman had been upstairs asleep," he said.
