Ballymena PSNI officers attacked with bricks

Police officers have come under attack while responding to a call-out in Ballymena.

A window in a police vehicle was smashed by a thrown brick as officers responded to youths throwing stones at a house in Dunclug Park at 23:20 BST on Saturday.

Bottles and stones were also thrown at police during the disturbances.

In a separate incident, a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing and supplying drugs.

A number of cannabis plants were found during a search in the Ballymoney Road area of Ballymena at 01:45 BST on Sunday.

The man has been charged and is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates' Court on 1 September.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after an accident in the Henry Street area of the town.

The incident happened at 10:10 BST on Sunday.

The man has been bailed to attend Ballymena police station at a later date.
