A man has been released on bail after appearing in court in Londonderry on a series of firearms charges.

John Feeney, 50, of Lawrence Hill in the city, was charged with possessing a Walther pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition on December 28, 2010.

He also faced three charges of handling stolen goods, namely a pistol, ammunition and the magazine for it.

Feeney was also charged with possessing the items without having a firearms certificate.

A prosecution lawyer told the magistrates court in Derry that there were some issues in the case and requested an eight week adjournment.

Feeney was released on his own bail to appear again on 6 October.
