Man evades 'attempted abduction'

A man is recovering after an alleged attempted abduction in Belfast city centre.

Police received reports of an assault in the Edward Street area at about 00:20 BST on Friday.

The man said he was approached in a carpark by three unknown, masked men. He was then handcuffed, assaulted and put into the back of a car.

He was able to free himself. He sustained injuries to the hand and head, but none were life-threatening.

Police have appealed for information.
