Crash victim Peter Ritchie was on his way to cricket match

Peter Ritchie, the man who died in a car crash in County Tyrone on Saturday was on his way to a cricket match.

The 24-year-old from Comber died in hospital following the accident near Clogher.

The collision involving two vehicles happened on the Ballagh Road. Two people were injured in the accident and were taken to hospital.

In a statement, the Northern Cricket Union said they were deeply saddened to learn of his death.

Mr Ritchie was on his way to play in a cricket match between Clogher cricket club and his club Ards held under the auspices of the Union.

"The thoughts of all involved in the Union will be with Peter's family and friends and in particular his cricket colleagues at Ards CC," the statement added.

"The Union also extends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident."

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at Dungannon.
