2,800 litres of 'illicit' fuel seized at Enniskillen garage

Nearly 3,000 litres of suspected illicit fuel has been seized at a filling station in County Fermanagh by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

HMRC and PSNI officers visited the site in Enniskillen and tested samples of the fuel from diesel pumps.

An adapted lorry was seized along with 2,800 litres of illicit fuel as part of the operation.

Two men were arrested and investigations are continuing.

Graeme Anderson of HMRC said the production of illicit fuel could cause "considerable damage" to the environment and there was also the potential for "serious damage to vehicle engines".
